Itzhak Perlman, Ehud Barak Celebrate Opening of Campus/Community Chabad Center
Jewish college students in Jacksonville, Florida, and the city’s Southside Jewish community celebrated the opening of their new $3.8 million Morris and Lillian Tabacinic Chabad campus and Finker-Frenkel Chabad center earlier this winter, in style. Rabbi Shmuli and Chana Novack, of Chabad Southside, have been family to the area’s 500 Jewish college students and Southside community, and this new space provides a welcoming and more permanent home for them.

20 Years in Oklahoma City and the Frontier is Friendly
When Rabbi Ovadia and Nechoma Goldman came to town in 1998, they were told Oklahoma City was reform country. “Nice thought, but you won’t last long here,” was the polite yet clear message. The couple, then in their twenties, was not deterred. Today, two decades later, the community is united around their presence.

Texting Teens Compete in Jewish Knowledge
For better or for worse, teenagers spend much of their time on their phones””nine hours a day on average””making it an effective way to reach them. At seven o’clock, every Monday and Thursday evening, the cell phones of over 3,000 Jewish teens around the United States and Canada buzz as they receive a text message with a Jewish question and a multiple-choice answer. JText, as the program is called, engages teens using the medium most comfortable to them, offering an opportunity to learn more about Judaism with a tap on their phones.

Your Place Is Here: An Emissary Reflects With Candor
On the day of the mikvah inauguration, Reizy Zaklas took a break from all the hoopla to reflect as we sat in her kitchen. I began by asking her if she would be willing to share some of her personal experiences leading up to this happy moment. She did, at first with the caveat that she did not want these stories published. But after some persuading, she agreed. The following is an excerpt of our conversation.
Nurturing Leaders and Influencers at Chabad of Princeton University
“Chabad at Princeton was the first place I saw a Jewish community that was truly and equally open to Jews of all kinds””Jews whose theory and praxis were all over the place,” says Hoffman. “The Webbs provided me with a model for a radically inclusive definition of Jewish community irrespective of individual practice.”

Wanted in Prison: Volunteers To Visit Inmates
Prison inmates are allotted a limited amount of visiting hours from family and friends. But for too many, visitors are rare. For some prisoners, years can pass before they receive a personal visit””whether it’s because they’re too far from family and friends for regular visitation or because their relationships have frayed. Contact with the world beyond the prison bars is often critical in the reintegration of prisoners into society once they've been released.
When is a Hill Not Just a Hill?
The natural playground is a living outdoor classroom where the children’s natural curiosity leads them to study caterpillars and collect millipedes. The playground uses materials like plants, boulders, logs, and earth mounds to provide a creative, interactive play experience. The environment facilitates the type of play that kept earlier generations occupied--a type of play that is becoming increasingly rare today.
Giving Back: New Jersey Teens Partner With Local Crisis Helpline
Last year, the New Jersey teens packed care packages that were personally delivered to needy children in Mozambique by Posner. But there are needy people just around the block too, and Posner believed it would mean a lot for the teens to see the direct effect of their giving. So this year, they partnered with Hunterdon Helpline, a local twenty-four-hour support service that responds to the at-risk population.

Why is Chabad Hosting an Anti-Israel Activist?
It was terribly upsetting for me to learn about a Jewish pro-Palestinian activist who was feeling right at home at Chabad. American campuses are so hostile to Israel today. As Jews, I believe we must speak in support of Israel, and that we must speak out against the organizations that threaten its survival.
Nature Rules, but Miracles Happen
Do you believe in miracles? To ask a Jew this question is like asking a raindrop whether it believes in clouds.

The old hatreds that we imagined had ended with the Holocaust have now resurfaced. The anti-Semitic rhetoric and the anti-Semitic violence are back, both in the U.S and abroad.
Dreading the Seder: When Dad is in Prison
They are hidden victims. Humiliated and financially devastated, the children, spouses, and sometimes parents, of Jewish inmates are left to struggle silently for their survival when the unthinkable has happened to them.
