Menorah Lights Kindled in Omaha

Omaha, Nebraska

Chabad joined the stricken community of Omaha, Nebraska in gathering for candlelight vigils for the victims of Wednesday's tragic shooting spree in Westroad Mall. In a poignant ceremony, Chabad Rabbi Mendel and Shani Katzman lit a menorah in front of Westroad Mall several hours after 19-year-old Robert A. Hawkins opened fire on the shoppers, reported Omaha.com.

Lighting the menorah in a place of such tragedy seemed an appropriate gesture."Hanukkah is symbolic of the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness, right over might," said Katzman.
