Fresh off kicking a game-winning field goal, Vikings’ kicker Greg Joseph surprised the crowd at a Chabad’s Young Jewish Professionals event Tuesday night when he lit the menorah with Rabbi Sholom & Mushky Brook

“It means more for me to be here than it does for you guys to have me out,” he told the crowd. “Being part of the Jewish community has always meant more to me than anything.”

“We’re fortunate to have him here with us,” Rabbi Brook said. “He takes such pride in being Jewish, and it’s an inspiration to us all.”

This isn’t the first time Joseph has appeared alongside a Chabad Rabbi to do a Mitzvah. Back in 2018, he ignited a minor rush for Mezuzahs when he posed for a picture with Chabad of Cleveland’s Rabbi Yossi Freedman after installing a Mezuzah in his home. Back then, Freeman reported getting a slew of requests for mezuzahs in response.

His menorah lighting is generating a festive buzz on social media, with clips being shared widely among Jewish fans. “You never know how many people you can impact by doing a single Mitzvah.” Rabbi Brook says.
