Holocaust survivor Helga Melmed is giving her time, energy, and priceless life experience to educate and care for Jewish children at Chabad of Venice, Florida’s Camp Gan Israel.
Born in Germany, Melmed was interned in the Łódź Ghetto, imprisoned in the Auschwitz concentration camp, and survived a death march to Bergen-Belsen.
Now, clad in the bright blue camp T-shirt, she watches the next generation of Jews learn about their heritage, celebrating the ultimate triumph of the Jewish people over those who tried to exterminate us.
