Two new Jewish online schools opened this week for dozens of children Russia-wide.

Dozens of Jewish children dispersed across nine different time zones in Russia began the first day of class at the same moment. The schools are operating under the umbrella of Ohr Avner, the largest educational network in the Former Soviet Union that caters to thousands of children across Russia.

The first program was opened to allow children who reside in smaller, remote areas to gain a regular Jewish schooling, while the second program supplements a general studies curriculum with Jewish subjects for children of Chabad emissaries who live in cities where there are not yet Jewish schools.
