(lubavitch.com)  NSW Premier Kristina Keneally visited Our Big Kitchen at Bondi, Australia, last week to repay a favor.

On Ms Keneally’s last visit to the kosher kitchen, she was suffering from a head cold. The following day she received a package at her office in Governor Macquarie Tower.

“It was a thermos of chicken soup, courtesy of staff at Our Big Kitchen,” Ms Keneally said.

“I have never forgotten that single act of kindness towards me, so I return here today to pay for the thermos, which I never did return, with a donation of $20,000.”

The grant will fund a range of projects at the kitchen, including the expansion of its community garden and its involvement in a community service program run by the Department of Corrective Services.

The Premier said she was always inspired by the staff at Our Big Kitchen, which was founded by Rabbi Dovid Slavin in 2007.

“I’m always inspired to be here with my friends in this community, in this kitchen,” Ms Keneally said. “The work you do fills the gaps that government simply can’t fill.”
