Three New Centers in Washington State

By , SEATTLE, WASHINGTON

Under the direction of Rabbi Sholom Ber Levitin, Chabad representative to the state of Washington, Chabad activities in this northern state are on the rise and spiritually warming up the climate for its state-wide Jewish population. Most recently, Chabad has opened centers in three additional cities in Washington.

Vancouver, Clark County, with a Jewish population of more than 3,000, is now served by Rabbi Shmulik and Tzivia Greenberg. Rabbi Greenberg is the only rabbi serving this area.

Tacoma, Pierce County, enjoys an established Jewish community, and the arrival of Rabbi Zalman and Miriam Heber introduces a welcome, youthful vitality with daily Torah classes, and a host of Chabad sponsored social and educational activities.

Just east of Seattle is Issaquah, King County, the new home of Rabbi Sholom Ber and Nechama Farkash. Like the Greenbergs, Rabbi Farkash is the only rabbi in the area. The Farkashes have already established a rapport with some 100 local Jews, reaching out to them with Shabbat services, holiday programming and more.

“These young couples have chosen to come to places with relatively small numbers of Jews and are enthusiastically embracing the challenges of developing stronger Jewish awareness in their respective areas,” says Rabbi Levitin.
