Teenagers Make Their Own Charity Boxes for Ukraine’s Needy

Teenagers in Fairfax, Virginia, created charity boxes that, once filled, will go to the needy in Ukraine. A part of the CTeen program at Chabad Lubavitch of Northern Virginia, the kids created their own boxes out of cutout cardboard, with the goal of dropping in a few coins of loose change every day.

“It teaches the teens to not only think about themselves, but that there are teens in Ukraine who are currently going through a crisis,” says Rabbi Shloime Adler, Youth Director at the Chabad center. “It makes Judaism fun for the teens in a meaningful way.”

The teens were encouraged to keep the boxes in their room, readily visible and easily accessible. When the boxes are full the local Chabad will arrange for the funds to be sent to Ukraine.

“My hope is to let the Jews in Ukraine know that while life here may be easier, we are thinking about them, their difficult situation and praying for the end of the conflict,” Adler said.
