Racing to the Finish Line: 20,000 Mitzvahs for Rabbi Yitzi

Diagnosed with ALS eight years ago, Rabbi Yitzi Hurwitz of Temecula, California is unable to physically assist others in fulfilling mitzvot. But he continues to be a source of inspiration through his writing, made possible through modern eye technology.

What does the good rabbi want for his upcoming 49th birthday? A world of mitzvahs! He’s aiming for 20,000 of them, and hopes his friends around the world will pitch in and make it happen.

From February 9th until February 16th, Yitzi’s friends and family will choose a mitzvah, snap a picture, and share it with #MitzvahforYitzi. The pictures and messages will be collected and presented to Yitzi on his birthday.
