New Chabad Reps to Azerbaijan

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN

New Chabad representatives, Rabbi Matityahu and Chaya Mushka Luis have taken up residence in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. The young couple will work with the country’s Chief Rabbi, Meir Bruk towards developing community programs supported by the Federation of Jewish Communities of the CIS.

Rabbi Luis will serve as the head of educational institutions that are run by the local Jewish community and supported by the Ohr Avner Foundation, and Mrs. Luis will be teaching Hebrew at the city’s Ohr Avner Chabad Day School.

Rabbi Matityahu Luis is supported by an ongoing grant by the Rohr Family Foundation of Miami and New York, which provides assistance to hundreds of other Rabbis throughout the Former Soviet Union to alleviate the financial burden for local Jewish communities.
