Chabad-Lubavitch Lights up the French Alps

PARIS, FRANCE

Lubavitch in France is undertaking an ambitious Chanukah campaign this week, with 13 public menorah lighting ceremonies throughout the French Alps.

In coordination with local municipalities, the European Bureau of Lubavitch, which oversees Lubavitch operations in France, has arranged for Chabad Chanukah celebrations at many ski resorts and more than 30 hotels throughout the Alps. In each of these locations, the menorah will be lit, and Chanukah kits will be distributed.

“We will go wherever we are needed, and bring the light, warmth and joy of Chanukah to our Jewish brethren,” explained Rabbi Yossi Gorodetsky, director of the European Bureau of Lubavitch.

These are trying times for Jews–particularly in France, explains Rabbi Gorodetsky, so Lubavitch is determined to reach as many Jews as possible, especially those living in isolated areas, the elderly and those away from home spending their holiday in France.

With centers in over 35 cities throughout France, Lubavitch is the largest outreach organization in the country. Lubavitch will be lighting Menorahs in over 60 different public locations countrywide.

In addition to Menorah lighting ceremonies, Chabad is conducting a range of lively Chanukah programs for children and adults, and visits will be made to old age homes and hospitals. “No one will be left out,” promised Rabbi Gorodetsky.
